COVID-19

We at Family Centered Medicine recommend the COVID-19 vaccination.  


INFLUENZA
We at Family Centered Medicine recommend influenza seasonal vaccination is given to all adults ages 19-49 without risk factors. One dose every year in the fall or winter is required.

PNEUMOCOCCAL
Recommended for people 65 years old or older. People younger than 65 years old who have chronic illness including HIV, cardiac or pulmonary disease, chronic liver disease alcoholism, diabetics should also have the pneumococcal vaccine. One dose every 5 years is recommended.

CHICKENPOX
This vaccine is recommended to all adults without evidence of immunity. Also all health care personal born in the U.S. before 1980 that have shown they have no immunity to chickenpox’s should receive the 2-dose vaccine. People who are HIV positive should NOT receive this vaccine.

SHINGLES
This vaccine is recommended for all people 60 years old or older. It is a one-time dose regardless of previous history of shingles or chickenpox. People who are HIV positive should NOT receive this vaccine.

TETANUS, DIPHTHERIA, PERTUSSIS
All people who lack written documentation of a primary series consisting of at least 3 doses of tetanus and diphtheria should receive this vaccine. A booster should be given every 10 years. Any adult who is in contact with infants younger than 12 months should have a Tdap booster.

HEPATITIS A &B
This is a combination vaccine given in 3 doses. Hepatitis A it is recommended to all people who travel or work anywhere outside the U.S.  Hepatitis B is recommended to all HIV positive patients. Also for household contacts and sex partners of hep B positive people, injecting drug users, people who have more than one sexual partner and all men who have sex with men.  All healthcare personnel and public safety workers should also have this vaccine.

HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRS
It is recommended that all previously unvaccinated women through age 26 years old have this vaccine along with men through age 26 who have sex with men to reduce their likelihood of acquiring genital warts.

MENINGITIS
Incoming and current college student’s ages 19 through 21 are required to have this immunization. HIV positive people can NOT receive this vaccine.
